Strong Maritime Ops
The Port of Tacoma's Pier 4 is one of the most active container shipping terminals on the West Coast. When the Port undertook a major redevelopment, aligning Pier 4 with neighboring Pier 3 to create a single 2,960-foot continuous berth, the operations building had to keep pace. The Marine Operations Building replaced an aging facility and expanded capacity for the Longshoremen and Superintendents who coordinate container ship loading and unloading around the clock.

Designed at the Scale of the Operation
The redesigned pier is now capable of simultaneously berthing two ultra-large container ships, supported by 100-gauge cranes sized for the largest vessels in service. Within this major infrastructure investment, the Marine Operations Building serves as a functional anchor: modest in footprint, purposeful in program, and built to perform at the pace of international commerce.

The building provides the operational, administrative, and crew support spaces that a high-throughput terminal requires, recognizing that the efficiency of a world-class port depends as much on the people running it as the infrastructure beneath them.
