"We are the Eagles!" proclaimed Principal Jack Arend, as he energetically conveyed the importance of Peter G's school mascot.

Staff, parents and students of Peter G. Schmidt Elementary find symbolism in the school’s mascot. The collaborative process led to a design reflecting this: throughout the new building, natural colors, textures, symbols and detailing represent an eagle’s northwest habitat.

Designed for 625 students, the two-story building replaces its former single-story open concept, enhancing security, unity, and collaboration.

The completed building welcomed students in autumn 2016, following phased construction which helped maintain a safe, operable and secure campus.
